Birthday Rush

May and June are a busy time for us... we have 3 birthdays in 3 weeks (and that is just MY kids!!)

Tristan is one year closer to double digits!!! She is growing into such a fine young lady. It is amaing to see who she is and how she responds to the world. God has definitely given her a compassionate heart and a love to serve. I am so proud of my girl!

Kennedy is growing by leaps and bounds. Trying to keep up with an older sister keeps her on her toes, whether it is riding her bike to reading a book to doing math homework to sewing doll clothes. She loves to help me cook and is a great little helper. She is also developing a greater sense of independence--if she can do, she doesn't want help!!

Justus, my baby, is growing up way too fast!! A year has passed since we met him and what a delightful year!! He is so funny and his expressions never fail to make us laugh. He tries to be so serious, but ends up in a puddle of giggles. He is not walking yet, but why would he? Crawling is faster than I can keep up with!! : )

Well, another round of birthdays have been completed on so we look forward to our summer and where those adventures will lead us.

The Resurrection of our Savior

Coming back from our DC vacation and straight into the holiday was a bit busy but it was so good for us to pause and reflect on what the Savior has done for us.

Thank you for Your LIFE that was given to us through Your Death. Help us to never take it for granted, Jesus. We love you.

March Madness

Well, March Madness is here... yes, basketball too!! Unfortunately, my husband's alma mater (UNC) did NOT win the ACC championship but he tells me that this is a GOOD thing. Every year that UNC has gone far in the NCAA tournament, they did not win the ACC. So... we shall see what come.

As we gear up for St. Patrick's Day and the first day of Spring, I must admit I am a but disappointed. Is it SPRING already?? What happened to WINTER? It never showed up to 2012....maybe it missed the memo?

Life continues to move forward!! We are enjoying the nice weather, waiting for blooms to come forth and buds to open up to reveal their splendorous coat of color.

We are also preparing for a trip to Washington DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Unfortunately, the peak bloom begins TODAY without us!! Hopefully they will still be around next weekend when we go up there!!

The kids continue to grow by leaps and bounds! Kennedy has mastered letter and number recognition. We are working on letter sounds now. Tristan has just about mastered her multiplication tables, which has been a huge challenge for her this year!!! And Justus, well... I think he may try to walk and completely skip crawling!! We shall see. At 9 months, he is just about ready to get up and follow his sisters. I think our "sweet spot" of sitting in one location while contented playing with toys may be slowly coming to an end. It has been a GREAT two months!!

Love is....

Is Old Man Winter gone on vacation? I keep waiting for something that resembles winter to appear, but alas.... nothing. We have had one snowfall.... it began around 8pm, snowed until about 11pm and by 8am the next morning had completely melted!! It was 70* two days later. Really???
Well, on to what we have been up to:

Tristan's Annual Valentine's Tea Party was the highlight of our month!! Not only did she get to plan the whole thing, it was a smashing hit with all who came!! One of the most memorable things for me a snapshot of how diverse her sphere of influence has become. From a very young age, she has been attracted to various cultures. As a three year old, she went up to her best friend... a little African-American girl who had her hair pulled into two pig-tails that looks like little puff balls... and as Tristan squeezed the little puffs of hair said "Mom, look at her hair!! Can you do my hair like this????" *smile*  Last year, she attended a Chinese Bridge Camp and loved learning the cultural dance and writing. And now to watch as her friendships develop...from every nation and ethnicity.

Kennedy is a hoot!! She continues to light up our lives with her laughter and music--from singing to playing the piano to doing all of it simultaneously-- she is a passionate kid with lots of spunk. While Justus continues to grow in body and soul... he is a happy child that rolls with the punches-both literal from "Sister" and figuratively from Mom. He managed to get 4 teeth within a 2 weeks span and did wonderfully!! A moment or two of crankiness but for the most part, he was a trooper.

The businesses are branching out, as we have recently been given the opportunity to do a couple commercial jobs for a restaurant chain here in Raleigh and Durham. Great exposure and opportunity!!! Working nights has been a bit rough for Clay, while still trying to juggle the daytime demands of meeting with customers, getting estimates done, organizing the "day" crews.... but he too has managed it all so well. MUCH better than I would have been able to.

Life is good and God is faithful!

All is Well

The new year arrives and with it....more warm weather. I don't think Old Man Winter is going to visit this year. Much to our dismay!!

All month, Kennedy continues to wonder where the snow is. A recent conversation:

Me- "Go help your sister in the living room. Do whatever she asks you to do to help out."
Her- " Mom! Are we picking up the house?!?!??!"
M- "yes..."
H- " Is SNOW coming?????"
I just love that girl!!

Tristan continues to work her way through 3rd grade. I think we are finally getting a hold of our multiplication tables!! Homeschooling is such fun! Loving the ability to move slower as needed and breeze through those areas that she wants to fly through!!

Just is growing like a weed too!! He is finally sitting up by himself after putting him in the Boppy pillow for two days straight. At 7 mo. I was ready for him to be on his own and playing!!

The Gift....of Christmas

Oh the joy of a Saviour that has come to show us the meaning of Christmas. Not that we loved HIM, but HE loved us and sent HIS Son as a gift, an offering to us that we might ever be in relationship with G-d. What a gift that we have be given. To look back to the past year, there is much to tell.... many disappointments, many moment of discouragement but more than that, MANY testimonies of G-d's faithfulness, provision and gracious mercy!!! We continue to grow as a family and in our business. G-d has blessed us with a son!! And HE has given us men of honor to work beside us in our business. G-d is indeed to us!!

Christmas morning was a fun time as we had another little one running around under the tree. He mostly sat in my lap and "ate" the wrapping paper but enjoyed himself, nevertheless. Tristan got her heart's desire--an American Girl doll--while Kennedy's highlight was a bike and helmet!! Clay's gift arrives in January with the opening of racquetball courts nearby to go with his new racquetballs that were under the tree!! For myself, I got the best Mom's gift of all..... a gift certificate for a massage!!!!!!!!
Alot of fun, much laughter and more love than ever!!!
